Best Lead-Off Hitter Ever

I would have to go with Rickey Henderson but Ichiro could take the cake if he plays 5 more solid years. I also love Jeter at lead-off.

  1. Rickey has NO competition.
Whoever didn't vote for him for the Hall of Fame should not be allowed to ever vote again.

  3. Interesting note on that comment Father Stephen. The one person that didn't vote for him was from Tucson, AZ. He was quoted as saying, "I'm just not a Ricky guy." Agreed, should not be able to vote if that is how it's going to be done.

All time SB (will never be broken), Runs and did have all time walks. .279 career hitter, most homeruns to lead off a game with 81. Scored 100 or more runs 13 times, walked almost a hundred times a year for 25 years with a .401 OBP. His ability to walk, steal second, then steal third and then score on a sac fly by Jose Canseco...nobody does that anymore with any consistency all while throwing the pitcher off the entire time he's on the bases. Ichiro has to go another 10 years at his pace before I take him over Ricky.

  4. Ricky. No Doubt. changed the dynamic of the game for a long time.

He single handedly changed the MOMENTUM of a game.

  5. Ricky. I love Ichiro, but Ricky's ability to steal bases and turn a single or walk into a potential runner in scoring position is a commodity you don't see in today's game. Simply ask yourself one question: Would you rather have a potential double play, or potential run?
